    FAQ's

What is the definition of Critical Illnesses?

Critical Illnesses refer to specific medical conditions, diseases, or surgical procedures listed in the policy terms. These conditions often require extensive treatment, and long-term care, or significantly impact an individual’s health and lifestyle.

What is the benefit of a Fixed Benefit Policy?

A fixed-benefit health insurance policy provides a predetermined lump sum payout upon diagnosis of a covered condition. Unlike various sorts of indemnity-based plans, the payout is not linked to actual medical expenses. Policyholders can use the amount for treatment, recovery, or other financial needs, offering flexibility and peace of mind.

    What is a Pre-Existing Disease?

A pre-existing disease is any illness, injury, or medical condition diagnosed or treated by a physician within 48 months before policy issuance or reinstatement. If medical advice or treatment was received for the condition during this period, it is considered pre-existing. Such conditions may have waiting periods before coverage begins.

How Does the Waiting Period Work in a Critical Illness Insurance Plan?

The waiting period in critical illness insurance is the duration after policy issuance during which no claims for specified illnesses are payable. Typically, a 90-day initial waiting period applies, and a survival period of 30 days post-diagnosis may be required.

What is the Difference Between Critical Illness Insurance and Health Insurance?

Critical illness insurance provides a lump sum payout upon diagnosis of a listed illness, irrespective of actual medical expenses. Regular health insurance reimburses hospitalisation costs as well as the treatment costs up to the sum insured.

Does Health Insurance Offer Options for Covering My Whole Family?

Yes, many health insurance plans offer family coverage. However, the exact definition of 'family' can differ between providers. Generally, family health insurance covers you, your spouse, and dependant children (up to 2); you may need to get separate policies for parents.

What are the Common Inclusions of Health Insurance?

Health insurance commonly covers hospitalisation costs, medical treatments, emergency services, and expenses related to pre- and post-hospitalisation care. Coverage for daycare procedures is also frequently included in health insurance plans; however, specific policy inclusions may vary from one plan to another.

Are Pre-Policy Medical Examinations Common in Health Insurance?

Yes, many health insurance providers ask for pre-policy medical examinations for certain age groups, when applying for higher amount of coverage, or in other scenarios. Such examinations help insurers assess your current health conditions and potential risks. The specific tests and requirements can vary based on the provider and the policy chosen.

Do Health Insurance Providers Offer Discounts for Healthcare Workers?

Health insurance providers may offer discounts on special concessions to healthcare workers on special occasions. The availability and specific details of these discounts can vary between insurers and different policies.

If you have opted for the co-payment option in your policy, you will be required to bear part of your hospitalisation expenses based on the policy terms.

To Whom Should I Submit Claim Documents, Third Party Administration Or Insurance Company?
