What is Covid 19 or Coronavirus?

COVID-19, also known as coronavirus, is a highly infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which emerged in late 2019 in Wuhan, China. The virus primarily spreads through respiratory droplets released when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks, allowing it to pass easily from person to person. COVID-19 can lead to symptoms ranging from mild to severe, including fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, and loss of taste or smell. In some cases, especially among older adults and those with underlying health conditions, the virus can cause severe respiratory illness, pneumonia, and even death.

Since its outbreak, COVID-19 has rapidly become a global pandemic, affecting millions worldwide and prompting countries to implement health measures like social distancing, mask-wearing, and hand hygiene. Vaccination efforts have played a key role in managing the pandemic, helping reduce severe cases and hospitalizations. While the virus continues to evolve, ongoing research and preventive measures are crucial to control its spread and mitigate its impact.

Need for Health Insurance Amid COVID-19 Outbreak

Not much needs to be said about the chaos & panic that the coronavirus outbreak has caused all over the world. It has led to a huge loss of life, and brought entire countries to a standstill. While we are all still trying to fight this pandemic, if one thing has become clear, it is the need for a good health insurance policy.

Want to know why Covid or corona insurance, and especially the Corona Kavach policy, is important? Read on! Coronavirus has proved to be quite world traveller, spreading quickly and affection millions of people. The lockdown and erstwhile measures surely helped in slowing the virus down. But as we are all emerging from the lockdown, we need to be aware that the virus is a lot closer to us than what we think.

We all now know that we need to maintain hygiene and practice social distancing to avoid coming in contact with the virus. But no method is 100% fool-proof. In fact, a report by CDDEP (US based Center for Disease, Dynamics & Economic Policy predicted that India’s cases could be in the range of 55-138 Crores by September 2020. And that is where a coronavirus insurance policy can be your biggest weapon to battle the disease.

With the unpredictable nature of the SARS-COV-2 virus, and the rising costs needs to battle it, the Corona Kavach health insurance can truly be your knight in shining armour, in the worst case scenario that you test positive for coronavirus.

    STEP 1: Intimation

You need to approach a Bajaj General Network Hospital, who will verify your details and send it ahead to us for authorization

    STEP 2: Authorization

Once we receive the necessary information from the hospital, we’ll go through the details and approve your claim, if it is admissible, within a day. We may get back to the hospital in case of certain queries, and once those queries are resolved satisfactorily, we will go ahead and send an authorization letter to them within 7 days.

    STEP 3: Treatment

Once your authorization is in place, all you need to do is get admitted, get treated and get better soon. We’ll take over the headache of coordinating with the hospital and clearing all the necessary medical bills and costs!

    Simple right?

    Reimbursement Claim

If, for some reason you are unable to access a Bajaj General network hospital, you’ll have to opt for the reimbursement process for claiming your coronavirus health insurance policy. So what is comorbidity? In the simplest of terms, comorbidity refers to the existence of more than one disease in the same patient. For example, if someone has diabetes and a heart-condition, it would fall under the comorbidity term. Similarly, in case of coronavirus, comorbidity refers to a scenario where the patient infected by SARS-COV-2 also has another condition like respiratory illness or a heart condition.

Comorbidities are more common than you would expect, and it is essential to treat these along with coronavirus. That’s why this health insurance for coronavirus covers comorbidities as well.
